Nathanael of Cana · No Deceit
In Mark’s Gospel
Named among the twelve as Bartholomew
Mark 3:18
Scripture records no other Bartholomew-specific moments in Mark.
Who they were
- Honest and guileless — Jesus himself testified: "in whom there is no deceit" (John 1:47)
- Skeptical but open — questioned Nazareth, then believed fully when confronted with truth (John 1:46-49)
- A true seeker — was under the fig tree (a traditional place of prayer and Scripture study) when Jesus saw him (John 1:48)
